CUMBERLAND – Anne Sofia (Schmidt) Stuckey, 74, of Cumberland, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Lions Rehab Center.
Born on October 16, 1950, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary Schmidt.
Anne was first and foremost a mother. She would do anything for her boys and went above and beyond her means to assure them the best of what she could offer. She had a sharp wit and a dark sense of humor that found humility in even the harshest realities of this mortal life. She enjoyed books and old movies. Her favorite hobby was sharing her thoughts with her friends, or "gabbing", as she called it.
She fought to defend the weak and was a megaphone for the victims she encountered in her life. She fought for what she knew was right with every fiber of her being. She extended this passion to stray dogs, lost kittens, and helpless tree saplings that needed to be nourished and nursed to grow strong.
Anne is survived by her loving husband, John Stuckey; her adoring sons, Andy and Brian; and five beautiful grandchildren, Avery, Angela, Aidan, William, and Drew; her brothers, Walter, James, and Harold; and her nieces and nephews, Greg, Peter, Phillip, David, Hillary, and Emily.
In accordance with her wishes, Anne will be cremated.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 300 E Oldtown Rd, Cumberland, MD, on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
Inurnment will follow in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
