Anne (Bucknam) Yantz, 96, of Cromwell, CT passed away after a lengthy illness at Covenant Living of Cromwell on June 18, 2025. Anne was born in Hartford CT to the late Everett and Eleanor (Morrissey) Bucknam. She graduated from Mount St Joseph Academy and The Morse Business School. She resided in Farmington, CT until her marriage to the late Harold Yantz on January 21, 1950. They moved to East Berlin, CT where they raised their family and were active in the community.

Anne was an avid crafter, skilled seamstress, creative quilter, superlative knitter and crocheter. She also enjoyed gardening, growing beautiful perennials, as well as fruits and vegetables. A favorite activity was her annual cookie baking and decorating of Christmas cookies, which she did with her children and grandchildren. Anne had a heart for volunteerism, and could be found working at Sacred Heart Church, The Berlin Historical Society, The Berlin Garden Club and service clubs at Covenant Living.

Anne had a long career in the Berlin School system as the secretary at Hubbard Elementary School and many years at Griswold Elementary School. Anne was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan and in her retirement became a fan of the UConn Lady Huskies.

Anne is survived by her two children and their spouses, Thomas and Susan Yantz of Berlin and Peggy and Mark Vaghi of Southbury. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Steven Yantz (Jillian), Allison Yantz (Matthew), John Vaghi (Diana) and Matthew Vaghi (Nancy), as well as three great granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

Aside from her parents and husband, Anne was predeceased by a brother Frank Bucknam and a sister Mary Rotondo. Anne's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Covenant Living of Cromwell, especially the staffs of the Grove and the Manor for their wonderful care and many acts of kindness and support during the years that Anne lived there.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. John Church, Cromwell. Burial will be in Wilcox Cemetery, East Berlin. Calling hours will be at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin, 111 Chamberlain Hwy., Berlin on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.

Dear Peggy, Tommy and families: Heartfelt sympathy over the loss of your dear mom, Anne. Anne is a new citizen of heaven and she has been reunited with her parents, family and her husband, Harold. Your mom was such a wonderful woman in so many special ways. Always willing to help out as needed. And of course, one of the best bakers around - especially her deep dish apple pies she use to bring to the picnics. But most of all, it was her faith that was so constant and admirable. Love to all of you. Sr. Paula
