Anneliese (Strak) Wolff passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025,
surrounded by family. She was born in 1937 in the Sudetenland of
Czechoslovakia and soon moved to Berchtesgaden, Germany, where she
spent her childhood. She immigrated to the United States in 1957 with
her parents, two brothers, and two sisters. The family made their home
in Chicago, where Anneliese built a new life and a future filled with
love, hard work, and resilience.
In Chicago, she met her husband, Justin Wolff. Before coming to the
United States, Justin had trained as a bakery apprentice in his home
country of France, later working in food production management for
United Airlines. Together, Anneliese and Justin fulfilled a shared dream
by opening Lilac Bakery and Pastry Shop in Lombard. They proudly
owned and operated the popular European bakery for more than twenty-five
years, creating a warm gathering place known for its quality and
charm.
After retiring, Anneliese embraced a full and joyful life. She loved
traveling, participating in her women's club, line dancing, and most of
all, spending cherished time with her granddaughters and extended
family.
Anneliese was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Justin Wolff.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeannette Vogel (Juergen);
granddaughters, Dr. Renee Vogel and Danielle Vogel; her sister, Luise
Kramer; sister-in-law, Erna Strak; and her nieces and their families. She
will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services and burial will be private.
