Annette Marie Grinde

Annette "Marie" Grinde, age 82, of Rushford passed away at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home on Saturday, October 5, 2024.

Marie was born on September 30, 1942 in Winona to Joseph and Evelyn (Fort) Berg. She attended school in Winona and graduated from Winona Senior High in 1960. On August 13, 1960, Marie married Andrew "Andy" Grinde, Sr. and they farmed near the Grinde Bridge outside Peterson. They moved to Rushford, living in Brooklyn, until the Flood of 2007. Then, Marie and Andy moved to Good Shepherd and loved the community there.

Marie was a member of the Rushford Legion Auxiliary for 54 years. She was very proud of her work there and greatly enjoyed serving the needs of her community. She loved to garden and attend to her flowers; she was a wonderful cook and baker. Marie loved novels by Danielle Steel, a good rummage sale and kept an immaculately clean house. She golfed and was on a bowling league for years. Of all the things she enjoyed in life, her family was at the center of her heart and Marie loved them dearly.

Marie will be greatly missed by her children: Connie Morejon of Caledonia, Cathleen Grinde of La Crescent, Andrew Jr. of Tulia, TX and William (Melissa) Grinde of La Crescent, her grandchildren: Jesse (Jessica) Hughes of Hammond, WI, Kayla Acosta of Cedar Rapids, IA, Amelia Marney of La Crosse, WI, Miranda Baggett of Tulia, TX, Brett (Samantha) Baggett of Tulia, TX, Colton (Berkley) Baggett of Amarillo, TX, Will Grinde of La Crescent, numerous great grandchildren, and her siblings: Marlene (Ken) Benck of Winona, Bradley (Gloria) Berg of Woodbury, MN, Maxine Fawcett and Pat Berg, both of Winona and one sister-in-law: Dixie Berg of Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Andy, and her siblings: Donald "Butch" Berg, Randy Berg and Bonnie Barnholtz.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 11:00 until 1:00 p.m. at the Hoff Funeral Home in Rushford. Burial will follow in the Rushford Lutheran Cemetery.
