Annie Lee (Howard) Davis, 84, of St. James Avenue, Springfield, Massachusetts, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024, at her home. Born in Oxford, North Carolina, Annie was the beloved daughter of Peter Mack Howard and Purcelle Romane Howard.
She became a Springfield resident in 1956 and was employed by State Line Potato Chips for many years. She was an ordained minister of St. Rachael's Fire Baptized Holiness Church, a member of the church choir, and also handled several other administrative tasks throughout her career. In her leisure time, Miss Annie was never idle. She loved to crochet, knit, sew, garden, and bake. She leaves her son John W. Davis Jr. of Springfield and two daughters, Annette Davis Harris of Springfield and Betty Cunningham of Silver Springs, Maryland; a brother, Otis Howard of Newark, New Jersey; a sister, Truvalia Hunt of Irvington, New Jersey; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was pre-deceased by her beloved parents, her husband, John W. Davis Sr., two daughters, Pamela White and Charlotte Ann Haskins, a brother, Charles Howard, and sister, Cynthia Howard. Funeral services were private.

My favorite memory of my Aunt is being penpals. I had learned about how the U.S. Postal system works in school. I was stoked after learning how to write and send letters. As a kid, the idea of receiving mail with my name on it excited me. I told everyone I knew that I can write letters now. My Aunt Annie suggested we become penpals. After sending a letter, I waited with eager anticipation to receive one back from Springfield.
Her address and phone number are still stamped in my head today (I didnt use them as often as I should have in later years). As an adult, I knew a birthday card would be in the mail like clockwork. I like to think that I was her favorite nephew, but she loved us all equally. My prayers are with my cousins and their children. May God give you comfort knowing she is in his arms, as she was a humble servant. I love you always, Aunt Annie.
