AS WE REFLECT…on a notable life, we think of what the Bible teaches us in Corinthians 5:8, "to be absent from the body is to be present with the LORD." George was wonderfully and marvellously made by the LORD to grace this earth on March 14, 1950. He was born in Leland, Mississippi, first child to Sara Davis who preceded him in death.

George received his primary education in Leland and Chicago public schools, graduating from Hyde Park High School where he made an unforgettable impression on his classmates and teachers. He exemplified a zeal and an eagerness to embrace others. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After his honorable discharge, he held various jobs as a short order cook.

George accepted Christ as his personal Savior at St. Peters Baptist Church. He strayed but found his way back and stayed faithful. Many may not remember the date of his birth or the date of his being called home to be with the Lord, but what they will remember are all of the special times that occurred during this period, the times of a joyful childhood, a spirited giving young man, and a focused and enduring man. All have been grace by his unforgettable lasting presence. He loved nothing more than spending time in the kitchen or a good book in his hand. His greatest comfort was the constant presence of his loyal dog, Rex, his faithful companion.

On Wednesday, September 9, 2025, we learned that George had ended his earthly journey and taken refuge in the arms of the Lord. George was preceded in death by his mother, Sara Davis Price; daughter, Michelle Alise Davis; grandparents, Thomas and Ophelia Davis and Pashion and George Morris; and godmother, Mabel Lowe. George leaves to rejoice his homegoing, his loving and devoted sister, Susan (Luther) Johnson; nieces, Stacie Johnson and Lana Johnson; great-nephew, Lacee Johnson of Austin, Texas. Also, cherishing a myriad of fond memories of him are his god sisters, Francis Lowe of San Antonio, TX and Zenda (Johnnie) Barnes of Conyers, GA; and a host of cherished friends.
