Annie Elizabeth Thorsen Klipp passed away on Wednesday, May 21st, 2025, at the age of 93. She was born on October 13, 1931, in
Pensacola, Florida and was the third of the seven children of Henry B. and Rachel Quina Thorsen. Annie grew up with her family in her grandmother's house at 418 W. Garden Street and met her future husband, Gene Klipp, at the USO on Spring Street. He was in Pensacola for Navy training and, when they married the following year, she followed him to numerous duty stations around the world for the next 29 years. They retired in Pensacola where they were active in bridge clubs, the St. Thomas Moore Choristers, and the Catholic choir at the Naval Aviation Chapel aboard NAS Pensacola.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Rosemary Wilcox, brothers, Rev. Henry B. Thorsen, Gregory Q. Thorsen, Louis G. Thorsen, and John A. Thorsen, and Dale Saucier who was her ballroom dance partner, travelling companion, and special friend for 18 years following Gene's death. She leaves behind her brother, James A. Thorsen and his wife, Mary; her four children and their families; Shirley Whitten and her husband Joe and Shirley's children Eddie Korinchak and his wife Barbara, Mark B. Granen and his wife Marsha, Summer M. Carter and her husband Brad, Shellie Massey and her husband Chris; Peggy Johnson and her husband Michael and their two children Kathy Johnson and Wendy Heidelberg; Thomas Klipp and his wife Judy and their three children Jeff Klipp, Sarah Klipp, and Adam Klipp and his wife Jenny; Jeannie Clayton and her husband Fred and their children Krystal Townsend, Daniel White, Tonya Clayton, Natasha Slagle, Heather Clayton, Lance Clayton, and John Cole Trueblood. In addition, Annie is survived by nine great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and a bounty of nieces and nephews upon whom she showered love and affection as well.
There were many fun, family gatherings held at Annie and Gene's house over the years which usually ended with everyone around the piano singing while Gene played. Years later, Annie's love of music led her to join The Over 55 Club at Bayview Senior Center where she met Dale and they danced there weekly for many years. Annie served as President and in several other offices for the club and was elected for a one-year reign as Queen. The two of them also joined the Belles and Beaus and were able to bring joy to many groups across Pensacola as they entertained with songs and skits. Dancing and music kept them young at heart.
Visitation for family and friends will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday June 2, 2025, at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 9945 Hillview Drive,
Pensacola, Florida, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Barrancas National Cemetery at NAS Pensacola at 1:00 p.m. Barrancas restricts flower arrangements to a total of three so, in lieu of flowers, the family believes that donations to the
Alzheimer's Association would be a wonderful tribute to Annie's memory.
