Anthony J. "Tony" Alexander

Anthony "Tony" J. Alexander, 94, of Fords, passed away on January 18, 2026, at his home in Fords. Tony is predeceased by his wife, Dolores, in 2011. Tony was born in Newark and had been a resident of Fords for 63 years. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Tony was a Long-Range Planning Supervisor for AT&T, Newark and later in Piscataway for 33 years before retiring in 1989. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Church, Fords. Tony enjoyed 6 decades of family vacations at the Jersey shore from Midway Beach to LBI. Tony also was a lifelong Giants football fan and he and his wife attended many sporting events at Rutgers University.

He is survived by his four children: Maureen Scafidi (Augie), Dr. William Alexander (predeceased Amy), Rich Alexander (Dr. Jen Gravish), and Nancy Simon (Curt); his seven grandchildren: Denise Brauner (Nate), Eric Alexander, Robin Alexander, Daniel Simon, Sophie, Riley and Rosie Alexander; his brother, Robert Alexander; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Flynn and Son / Mitruska Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. Followed by a 10:30 AM Catholic funeral service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a charity of your own choice.
