Anthony Richard Azzinaro (Tony) of
Yardley, PA passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, October 16th, 2025, one day short of his 98th birthday.
Tony was born to Italian immigrants, Joseph and Carrie (Rago) Azzinaro on October 17, 1927, in the Chambersburg section of Trenton, NJ. He was delivered by a midwife in the family home. He was the youngest of three children. His brother, James Azzinaro and his sister, Virginia Leoni preceded him in death
Tony graduated from Trenton Central High School where he enjoyed mathematics and almost considered becoming a math teacher. His classmates gave him the nick name "Azzi", which he later proudly displayed on his car's license plate. He would often tell people how to pronounce his last name by saying, "Remember - straight as an arrow."
From 1945 to 1947, Tony served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a Fireman First Class.
Tony first spotted, from the window of his office building, the beautiful Joyce Malloch of Morrisville, PA walking to work in Trenton. They married in 1952 and were blessed with two daughters, Pamela and Brenda. They bought their first home in Levittown, PA in 1952 and then moved to Lower Makefield, PA in 1966 where he lived for 59 years.
Tony enjoyed a successful career as a draftsman starting with assignments at RCA, General Electric and several others. He was then hired by Rohm and Haas in Bristol, PA in 1965 where he spent the remainder of his career until retiring in 1990.
After retirement, he joined LA Fitness in Langhorne, where he met many new friends and quickly earned the affectionate title of "The Mayor of LA Fitness".
Tony was a longtime member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Yardley. He loved his church family and his Lord Jesus Christ.
Through his life, he enjoyed bowling with his coworkers, drawing pictures with black ink, annual camping trips with his Rohm and Haas buddies, solving cryptograms, going out to eat with friends and family, especially Saturday morning breakfasts (which he always insisted on paying for), hanging out at Einstein's for coffee with his buddies and sitting on the front porch talking to everyone who walked by. Tony's wife was so good at remembering birthdays and anniversaries, so at her passing in 1996, he took over the privilege of continuing this labor of love. He was excellent at picking out the perfect cards with the perfect sayings. Later, when it became difficult to shop, he texted his greetings instead.
It is said, "To have a friend, you must be a friend", and that is exactly who Tony was. Thank you to all his many friends.
Tony is survived by his daughters, Pamela Thomas (David) and Brenda Flanagan (Sean), his grandchildren, Ryan Thomas (Cynthia) and Sara Burnett (Spence), four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11:00am at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church 54 W. Afton Avenue
Yardley, PA 19067. Visitation will be held from 9:00am to 10:30am at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home 17 S. Delaware Avenue
