Elizabeth Sracic (née Borenish) passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, at the age of 97, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Benscreek, PA, Elizabeth started her career at the Portage National Bank before she married her husband, Albert. The couple soon moved to New Jersey, eventually settling in Peapack-Gladstone in 1961. After raising her children, Elizabeth returned to work, working as a librarian at the Lincoln School in Peapack, the USGA Golf Museum in Liberty Corner and dedicating many years to AT&T in Bedminster, NJ.
Elizabeth was a deeply involved member of her community. Her lifelong passion for books and reading fueled countless hours of volunteer work, most notably as a volunteer librarian at St. Brigid's Catholic School in Peapack. She was also an active participant in the school's PTA and a committed member of the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Brigid's Church, in addition to volunteering at the Peapack-Gladstone Library.
One of Elizabeth's most defining traits was her ability to connect with people; wherever she went, she was quick to make friends. This remained true when she moved to Langhorne, PA, in the early 2000's to be near her daughter, and during her final years at Remington of Yardley Senior Living. She was also a much-loved aunt and Godmother to her extended family, sharing her kindness and warmth with many generations.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, and her siblings: Katherine Kulaga, Ann Zadroga, Mary Molnar, George Borenish, and Frank Borenish.
She is survived and deeply missed by her daughter, Janet (Austin) Cahill, and her son, Paul (Susan) Sracic. She was a cherished grandmother to Katya (Adam) Warning, Anna (Tran) Sracic, Emily Cahill, and Sarah Cahill.
In keeping with her love for books and the local community, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to The Friends of the Peapack and Gladstone Library.
The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 11:30am at St. Brigid Catholic Church 129 Main Street Peapack, NJ 07977. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30am to 11:30am at the church. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery 145 Mt. Airy Road Basking Ridge, NJ 07920.
Arrangements are under the care of the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home 17 S. Delaware Avenue Yardley, PA 19067. Condolences for the family can be left at www.fitzgeraldsommerfuneralhome.com.
