Anthony Jude "Sonny" Bushak

Anthony Jude "Sonny" Bushak, 25, of Round Rock, Texas, passed away on December 20, 2024. Born on August 21, 1999, Sonny lived a life full of kindness, intelligence, creativity, and a sense of humor that brightened the lives of everyone around him.
Sonny was a 2021 graduate of Southwestern University, where he earned a degree in Theatre Arts. His love for the stage was evident in the many plays and musicals he performed in, both at Southwestern and the Georgetown Palace Theatre. One of his most beloved roles was as "Sparky" in Forever Plaid at the Georgetown Palace. A devoted fan of musicals, Sonny especially cherished Les Misérables, which held a special place in his heart-as epic and full of emotion as the man himself.
Beyond the stage, Sonny was a talented writer, completing a novel that, while unpublished, stood as a testament to his creativity and passion for storytelling. He was also deeply committed to advocacy, sharing his experiences as a transgender man to educate and inspire others. As a speaker with PFLAG, Sonny made a profound impact when he spoke at the Texas State Capitol, championing understanding and equality.
Sonny found joy in life's simple pleasures: walking along the beach every summer searching for seashells, playing Dungeons & Dragons with his close-knit group of friends, and caring for cats, which he had adored since childhood. He had a remarkable talent for finding or creating the perfect gift, a reflection of his thoughtful and gentle nature.
Sonny leaves behind his loving parents, Matt and Stephanie Bushak; his twin brother, Ryan, who shared a bond with him that words cannot describe; and countless friends and family who feel privileged to have known him.
A memorial service to honor Sonny's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 4th at Journey of Faith United Methodist Church in Round Rock, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the ACLU or a local theatre organization, continuing Sonny's legacy of advocacy and love for the arts.
Though his time with us was far too brief, Sonny's creativity, compassion, and humor touched us all. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
