In Loving Memory of Anthony Leon Douglas
Anthony Leon Douglas, age 63, of Converse, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025, in his home.
Born on March 21, 1962, in Dowagiac, Michigan, Tony—as he was affectionately known—was the cherished son of Marshall and Lavirda Douglas. Raised in a loving home with four siblings, Tony grew into a quiet, gentle man whose calm demeanor and steady presence touched everyone around him. He rarely raised his voice, even in moments of discipline, choosing instead to lead his family with patience and grace.
Tony had a deep love for cooking, video games, and spending time with his family. In his early years, he found joy in working on cars—a passion that reflected his knack for fixing things and his appreciation for craftsmanship. His faith was an important part of his life, and he found comfort and connection at weekly Celebrate Recovery meetings.
Tony is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon Douglas of Converse, Texas; his children: Sarah Gillam (Nikolas Dye) of Schertz, Texas, Allan Prestly of Phoenix, Arizona, Catrinka Prestly of Avon, Indiana, Cassandra Gary (James) of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Cami Mills (Justin) of Muncie, Indiana.
He was a proud grandfather to Samara Douglas, Issac Smith, Elyse “Ellie” Dye, Evelyn “Evie” Dye, Brianne Prestly, Joseph Prestly, Allan Prestly Jr. Carter Mills and Kingston Gary; and a doting great-grandfather to Kyzen Prestly, Kareem Prestly, and one great-grandchild on the way.
Tony is also survived by his mother, Lavirda Douglas; his sister Patricia Scott; his brother Michael Douglas; his nephew Michael, nieces Christina, Adrienne, Allison, Danielle, Stephanie, Destiny and a host of great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Marshall Douglas, a son Marshall Douglas, sisters Arminta “AJ” Douglas and Marsha Douglas (Shaw), mother-in-law Stella Townsend and nephews Andre Scott Jr. and Brandon Douglas.
Tony’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His quiet strength, unwavering love, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
A Memorial Service to honor Tony's life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 10:00 AM, with a Visitation to begin right before at 9:00 AM at Schertz Funeral Home located at 2217 FM 3009, Schertz, TX 78154.
