With profound love and gratitude, we celebrate the remarkable life of Anthony Arvester Fleming, Sr. Affectionately known as "Tony" he was a man of unwavering faith, boundless generosity, and steadfast devotion to his family. On Saturday, May 10, 2025, Tony answered the call of our Heavenly Father, moving from time into eternity. Though his physical presence will be deeply missed, his enduring legacy of love, kindness, and faith will forever live in the hearts of those blessed to know him.

Tony was born in South Bend, Indiana on November 1, 1953, to the union of Arvester and Betty Fleming. His formal education began at Perley Elementary School, continued through Jefferson Middle School, and culminated at John Adams High School. A gifted athlete, he excelled in football and track. Following his graduation in 1972 he attended Michigan State College. He trained and certified as a journeyman carpenter, building a distinguished career as a craftsman and construction superintendent. Tony approached his work with excellence and passion, mentoring others in his trade.

On August 8, 1993, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Tony was united in marriage to his best friend and love of his life, Patricia Lane. He found peace and joy in the simple rhythms of life. He loved spending time with his family and also loved nature, especially fishing and being near water. Music, particularly gospel and jazz, brought him great joy. Tony and Patricia's home was often filled with melodies that lifted the spirit, with Marvin Winans among Tony's favorites, echoing the depth of his faith and journey.

Tony was a man of integrity, humility, and grace. A true servant leader, his presence lit up every room with joy; his wisdom offered strength, and his selfless spirit uplifted all who crossed his path. Whether building with his hands as a skilled carpenter, mentoring the next generation, or nurturing family and friendships, Tony lived with intention and purpose. His life was a true reflection of God's love-visible in his actions, words, and heart.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Arvester and Betty Fleming, and his sister, Karen Tucker. He is survived by his sons, Anthony A. Fleming Jr. (Skytha "Kita") and Derrick Fleming; grandchildren Jalen and Nia Fleming; loving sisters Diana (Guy Luckert) Fleming and Denise (Derrick) Fowler; and nephew Joseph Shead Jr.

His memory will be lovingly cherished by his best friend and devoted wife, Patricia Lane Fleming, whose partnership and love stood as a beautiful testament to their journey. Forever loved by his bonus children Lisa Fikes, Kenneth Fikes Jr., and Kyron Fikes, and bonus granddaughters Kamiel and Gabrielle Taylor, who affectionately called him "Pawpaw," he was a father figure, a source of strength, wisdom, and unconditional love.

He will also be fondly remembered by his in-laws Perl (Hardie) Blake and Tanya Anderson; James (Yvonne) Lane, Delbert (Beverly) Lane, along with many family members and dear friends who were blessed to share in his life and love.

Though Tony has departed this earthly life, his legacy of love, laughter, service, faith and wisdom remains woven into the fabric of all who knew him. His light continues to shine through the many lives he touched-a guiding presence.
