Anthony “Tony, Ynot” Bernard Gradecki, 78, passed quickly on Saturday, October 4, 2025, while up north surrounded by the things that brought him the greatest joy — golf, good friends and laughter, a well-crafted beer, and the Brewers earning their first playoff win of the series.
The eldest of five, Tony leaves behind only his brother William, joining at last the rest of his family who went before him. He was deeply loved by his two children, Anthony J. and Melissa (Jared), by the children and grandchildren of his extended family, and by countless friends he made throughout his storied life. The impact he left behind is nothing short of legendary.
A retired electrical technician for the United States Post Office and a Technical Sergeant with the 128th Air National Guard following his Army enlistment, Tony worked hard his whole life. He saw much of the world and lived proudly as a patriot.
A friend to everyone he met, Tony was known for his ever-present grin — earning him the nickname “Smiley” at an early age. His laughter was infectious, his humor endless, and his childlike spirit stayed with him to the end.
Always willing to lend a hand, share his time, and help a friend in need, Tony truly embodied selflessness. He gave freely, knowing that none of those things can be taken with you when you leave. He loved the outdoors in every season — hunting in the early winter; fishing in the spring, summer, and fall; tending to the flora around his home; tailgating at the ballpark; or simply enjoying a barbecue with friends.
No one who knew Tony would argue that their life wasn’t better for having known him. Never one to be fussed over, he would rather those who loved him keep his spirit alive by following his example — living fully, laughing often, and lending a hand wherever it’s needed.
