Anthony “Tony" Heitzer Obituary

Anthony P. "Tony" "YNOT" Heitzer, 79, of Butler, passed away on Monday, Jan. 13, 2025, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
The oldest of 12 children, Tony was born Aug. 7, 1945, in Butler to the late Hubert and Betty (Sintz) Heitzer.
Tony was a graduate of Butler High School. He then went on to serve his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, and returned home to work for Armco until his retirement in 2002.
He married the love of his life, Shirley Devore, on Nov. 30, 1968. Tony and Shirley enjoyed 42 years together, filled with many adventures that are well documented through photographs. The two lived to ride and enjoyed many trips together all over the country. Shirley's departure from this world on Sept. 18, 2010, left a hole in Tony's soul for his remaining days.
Tony was an avid beer memorabilia collector. He enjoyed being a longtime member of the Beer Can Collectors of America, and always looked forward to the next beer show. Above all else, Tony truly had a heart of gold. He never once met a stranger, and wouldn't hesitate to strike up a conversation or share a story. Tony will be greatly missed by all those that knew him.
He is survived by his only son, Eric P. Heitzer; his siblings, Martha (John) West, Rosemary Heitzer, Patty (Ed) Beck, Rita (Jim) Pritts, Emily Heitzer, Elizabeth (Jeff) Rosellini and Michael (Joyce) Heitzer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Shirley, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Heitzer; his sister, Theresa Deal; and also an infant brother and sister.
HEITZER - Family and friends of Anthony P. "Tony" "YNOT" Heitzer, who died Monday, Jan. 13, 2025, will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 to 6:45 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler. Full military honors will be performed at 7 p.m. at the funeral home by members of American Legion Posts 117 and 778, and VFW Post 249.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, at All Saints Parish, St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler, with Father John Baver officiating. All are asked to please meet at the church.
He will be laid to rest beside his wife, Shirley, in St. Wendelin Cemetery.

Tony and I worked at opposite buildings but we would step out our door and have conversations, like us each coming from large families or about our families and he always gave me great advice about traveling. He was a great guy. We extend our condolences to his family.

Tony was a great guy. Always enjoyed talking to him in the neighborhood. He will be remember as a guy that always had a funny story and lived life to the fullest. Tony will be very greatly missed in the neighborhood. I cannot even imagine what it will be like not to see him working or sitting in his yard, or stopping by to say hello or chat while out taking a stroll. We could not have asked for a better neighbor. There will be a void in the neighborhood now, that cannot be filled. We will miss you so much Tony!! We hope that you have found everlasting peace and happiness in your eternal home! We love you!

Tony will be forever missed . Tony and Eric were a big part of my childhood as I would dance with them almost every Monday for Bluegrass nights and North Country Brewing. It was something I looked forward to week after week . I actually work at the Brewery now. I am just thankful that I got to see Tony last week as they came in to grab some beer. My thoughts and condolences and with the family and may Tony rest in peace.

To the Heitzer family, my sincere condolences. Tony was a dear friend to my late husband Charlie and no matter how long between seeing each other, they picked up where they left off the last time. God bless him and may he rest in peace.
