Age 81 of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 22, 2022 in his home.
Born July 26, 1941 in Joliet, he was a son of the late Anthony, Sr. & Rose Kotlar.
Tony was a life long resident of Joliet as well as a successful business owner for over 50 years: Trader Tony's Antiques and Pete's Bait Shop both located in Joliet. He could look at something and instantly tell you what it was worth with a story attached. When it came to bait, he could tell you exactly what you need to catch the fish you want. Tony was a proud American who loved his Harley Davidson. Tony was a great mechanic who could work on almost anything. He also enjoyed fishing whenever possible. Tony was truly the jack of all trades, master of some.
He is survived by his partner of 27 years: Virginia Clark (Kari McKay); sister: Bernadine "Bunny" Ference; nephews: Joe, Tim and Jim Ference. Beloved father to: Anthony Kotlar, John (Angie) Kotlar, Michael (April) Kotlar, Jean (Joe) Kotlar, and Jason (Jen) Kotlar; loving grandfather to: Jessica Kaech, Brittani Kotlar, Gage Brunke, Morgan & Megan Kotlar, Marissa & Cody Kotlar, Liam & Julia Costello, Joey and Jacob ; dearest great-grandfather to: Lexy "Razor" Kaech and Chase Tordai, as well as a dear friend to many.
The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. until time of funeral service beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet.
Per Tony's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made as gifts in Tony's memory to the family for their distribution.
