Anthony Pilolli Obituary

Anthony Michael "Tony" Pilolli

Anthony Michael "Tony" Pilolli, 82, passed away at his home in Forest, VA, on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.

Anthony was born in Youngstown, OH, on September 8, 1942, son of the late Carmella and Michael Pilolli. He was a graduate of Ursuline High School and Youngstown State University.

Anthony was a member of the Army National Guard serving six years in the Military Police Unit until receiving an honorable discharge. He was commissioned as an Officer with the Liberty Police Department in 1965. His career with the Liberty Police Department included serving as Commander of the Detective Bureau, the township's first Juvenile Officer and finally Chief of Police. After retirement from the police department he worked as an investigator for the Harshman Law Office, the Betras Law Office and Maruca Law Firm.

Anthony took pride in participating in many law enforcement and political organizations in the area. He received numerous community and civic awards for his contributions and service to law enforcement; he was commissioned a Deputy Sheriff with the Mahoning & Trumbull County Sheriff's office and appointed to the Youngstown Air Reserve Base Community Council. He was also active with the Mahoning County Democratic Party serving as a Precinct Person and then as Vice-Chairman. His church community was also very important to him. While living in Ohio he was a member of St. Columba Cathedral Parish and served on the Parish Council and Finance Committee. After moving to Virginia he became an active member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.

He enjoyed spending many summer vacations with family in the Outer Banks, bicycling in Mill Creek Park and later in life attending his cardiac rehab classes at the Jamerson YMCA. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and they loved his silly sense of humor and big personality.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 56 years, Nora; his daughter, Sherri (Thomas) Meyer; son-in-law, Shawn (Jennie) Osterholt; grandchildren, Conner and Brandon Osterholt; Oliver, Oakley, Otis and Ana Meyer; and granddog, Oscar Meyer. He is also survived by his sisters, Patricia (Henry) Pisciuneri; Mary Lou (Jim) Hendrick; brother, Michael; and many other dear relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Lynne Osterholt; sister, Elena Ferradino; and father-in-law, Luigi Pisciuneri.

Our heartfelt thanks goes out to Centra Hospice, his devoted caregivers, Reverend Matt Rhodes, the church family at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church and our kind neighbors.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, December 14th, at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Church in Boardman, Ohio, with the Reverend Brian Cline officiating. A mercy dinner will follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church 1695 Perrowville Rd., Forest, VA 24551 or a charity of your choosing.
