Anthony Mistretta Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, LLC - Pottstown on Jul. 20, 2024.
Anthony Mistretta, 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Phoenixville Hospital surrounded by his family after a prolonged battle with cancer.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Santino and Rose (Scelsi) Mistretta. In 1962 he graduated from William Tennent High School after which, he proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Once retired from the Navy, he worked as a butcher for over 40 years. Tony would always welcome customers with a big smile, enjoying his daily interactions with the people he met throughout the day.
In 1970 Tony met the love of his life, Colleen J. Monahan, who he later married and spent fifty-four beautiful years together experiencing life. Side-by-side, they built a beautiful family including two boys, Anthony, and Joseph. Tony created wonderful memories with both his sons through his countless hours of coaching baseball at the Warrington Athletic Association. His love of sports and watching his children play continued decades later when he could experience the joy a second time with his grand kids.
Family dinners were especially important to Tony as he loved cooking, eating, and spending time with those he loved; both human and furry. Tony would often be caught sharing what he cooked with one of his seven furry friends (past Buster, Trixie, Diesel, Spot, Fenway, current Dug and Russell).
Tony was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed. Surviving along with his wife Colleen, is his son Anthony Mistretta and his wife Jennifer; son Joseph Mistretta; sister Cassy DelRosso and her husband Lenny; eight grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He is predeceased by his brother John Mistretta.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 11:00AM at St. John Neumann Cemetery (3797 County Line Rd, Chalfont, PA 18914), followed by Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Anthony's name to the ASPCA (https://www.aspca.org/).
