Anthony “Butch” J. Musto Jr., 83, of Southington, CT, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Joanne L. (Coppola) Musto for 62 years.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he lived a full life putting his time and energy into what mattered most: the people he loved.

Anthony was born on June 25, 1942, in Meriden, CT to the late Anthony J. Sr. and Edith Ann (D’Angelo) Musto. He retired from the Southington Highway Department after many years of service and then owned and operated AMJ Line Painting in Southington.

A hardworking man, Anthony was happiest at home, where his heart was always with his wife, children, and grandchildren. While he adored his wife and kids, nothing brought him more joy than being “Papa” to his grandchildren—his pride and delight.

Anthony found simple pleasures in life and made them extraordinary. Tinkering in his yard, tending to his garden, cooking in the kitchen, taking his wife for walks on the beach, and fun-filled trips to the casino were some of the things he enjoyed. His family will especially remember his talent in the kitchen—most of all his famous sauce, prepared with love for countless family dinners.

An animal lover at heart, he cherished the companionship of his dogs, especially Tyler, and fondly remembered the horses Candy and Coco, who brought so much joy to his children in the 1970s.

Those who knew Anthony will remember his sharp sense of humor, his straight-shooting honesty, and his willingness to help anyone in need. He was a man admired for his strength, generosity, and authenticity.

Anthony leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and family traditions that will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.

In addition to his wife Joanne, Anthony is survived by three children, Kimberly Kann and her partner Christopher Lynch of Farmington, CT, Toni Gozzo and her husband Ronald of Brooklyn, NY and Anthony J. Musto III and his wife Delia of Buxton, ME and four grandchildren, Taylor and Alexandra Kann, Izabella Gozzo and Thea Musto. He is also survived by many loved nieces and nephews, including cherished nephews Brian and Jason Coppola and Thomas Killiany. In addition to his parents, Anthony was predeceased by five siblings, Joann, Francis, Edith, Linda, and Paul.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Anthony’s memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation (https://www.kidney.org/).

A funeral service will be celebrated at 12 noon on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
