It is with great sadness that the family of Anthony Paul Pleasant, age 67, of Mountain City, Tennessee, announces his passing on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. Anthony was born in Johnson County, Tennessee, on November 25, 1957, to the late Estel and Loveta Pleasant. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Doug, Wendell, and Norman Pleasant.
Anthony was a 1976 graduate of Johnson County High School. He then served in the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne Division, followed by service in the Army Reserves. After the military, he worked as a traveling millwright before eventually joining Eastman Chemical Company, where he was employed full-time until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, construction projects on his home, working on his land, and spending time with his family and grandsons. He was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church and a 1999 graduate of Victory Baptist Bible College, where he earned a Bachelor of Theology degree.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathy Pleasant; daughter, Meagan Visser (Dean); grandsons, Judah, Isaiah, Uriah, and Ezrah Visser; sisters, Mildred Eastridge (Joe), Sharon Merryman (Doug), and Jacqueline “Jackie” Thomas (Larry); as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A private graveside service was held on November 24, 2025, at Phillippi Cemetery and was officiated by Pastor Steven Spencer and Pastor Dean Visser. Military honors were provided by the Johnson County Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Anthony’s honor may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
