Anthony Thomas "Tony" Pratt, age 53, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 28, 1972, in Des Moines, Iowa, Tony’s life was a powerful testament to resilience, courage, and enduring joy despite the challenges he faced.
From a young age, Tony confronted adversity with remarkable strength. Having overcome childhood cancer and living with severe intellectual disabilities, he taught those around him invaluable lessons about love, patience, and determination. Tony's ability to meet life's obstacles with grace was an inspiration to all who knew him.
Tony found joy in simple things—coloring, painting, and spending time watching his favorite television programs, Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right. Beyond these pastimes, family held a foremost place in Tony's heart. He cherished his nieces and nephews and eagerly looked forward to visits on his brother’s farm, where he could connect with both animals and nature.
Tony was preceded in death by his father, Terry Hobt, his great-grandmother, Lillian Farris, as well as other grandparents. He is survived by his devoted mother, Sharon (Pratt) Hobt; his sisters, Suzi Loeffelholz (Ted) and Brandi Muelhaupt; and his brother, Kris Hobt (Brittney), along with several nieces, nephews and other extended family members who loved him dearly.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all of Tony’s caregivers and medical personnel whose compassionate care supported him throughout the years, allowing him to live with dignity and comfort. He will be laid to rest at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa.
