Anthony "Tony" M. Pugliese, age 100, died peacefully on April 14, 2025, at Cedarhurst of McHenry.
He was born in Chicago on Oct. 1, 1924, in Chicago, to Frank and Rose (nee Ariani), growing up with siblings Michael, Marie (Joseph), Annette (Edward) Cooper, and Phylis (Anthony) Delaquila, all preceding him in death.
A World War II US Army veteran, he served from 1943 to 1946 as a technician in the medical detachment, 121st General Hospital. After his service, he was a career maintenance man, retiring at 75 from St. Zachary Parish & School.
Friends and family knew him by many terms of endearment: "Pug" from his Army days, "Mr. P.", "Little Tony", "Mr. Magoo", "The Commander", and "Tony Bologna".
He loved bowling, the music of the Rat Pack, tinkering away in the garage, and spending time with his friends, neighbors, and many loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Anne (nee O'Toole). He is survived by his children, Frank (Deanna), Daniel (Angie), Barbara Lynn Sedan, Barbara Ann Merkel, and Lisa (Todd Appel); grandchildren Heather (Eugene), Tony (Angela), Ami (Steve), Colleen (Patrick), Meghan (Pat), Justin, Katelynn (Sam), and Joely; great-grandchildren Devin (Jenna), Brayden, Jordan, Jocelyn, Caylee, Wesley, Carter, Noelle, Inez, Hayden; great-great-grandson Cohen; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Tony touched the lives of everyone he met: If he met you once, he'd recall your life story years later when your paths crossed again.
We were blessed to have him in our lives for so long, and we will all miss him dearly and remember him forever. His love, kindness, and the memories he gave us will be cherished always.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday April 26, 2025 12:00pm-2:00pm with a service at 1:30pm at Cooney Funeral Home located at 625 Busse Hwy. in Prk Ridge.
