Cornelius (Connell) G. Gillespie

Age 62, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28.

Connell was the beloved son of the late James and Mary Gillespie and the dear brother of the late James Patrick Gillespie. He is survived by his devoted sister, Mary Ellen (John) Zimmers, and his cherished nephew, Frank (Karolina) Zimmers, with whom he shared a special and lasting bond.

A lifelong supporter of the Chicago White Sox and Blackhawks, Connell's love of sports was matched by his sharp wit and vast knowledge of music. From his first job at age 13-delivering prescriptions on his bicycle for Black's Pharmacy-to his work in ironwork and other fields, Connell approached life with energy and dedication.

Proud of his Irish heritage, Connell often reminisced about childhood summers spent in Donegal and Glasgow. His role as a caregiver was extraordinary, particularly in the tender and devoted way he cared for his elderly parents.

Connell will be remembered for his humor, his kindness, and his gift for bringing joy and connection to those around him. His memory lives on in the family and friends who loved him deeply.
