Anthony H “Tony” Ramirez, 71, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away on December 20, 2025.
Tony spent many years working in construction, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He later enjoyed a well-earned retirement from the Las Cruces Public Schools, a chapter of life he truly embraced.
Above all else, Tony’s greatest joy was his family—especially his grandchildren, Julian, Isaiah, Eve, Jacob, and Andrew. He cherished every moment spent with them and could most often be found proudly attending their sports games, chess tournaments, and marching band performances. Whether cheering from the stands or simply being present, Tony showed his love through unwavering support.
In his free time, Tony was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching just about every sport imaginable. He was especially devoted to the Atlanta Falcons, the San Francisco Giants, NMSU Aggies, and the Portland Trail Blazers. Game days were always better with Tony around.
Anthony is survived by his two daughters, Elizabeth Valenzuela and Gina Calzada, and Gina’s husband, Julio Calzada; his sisters, Juanita Archuleta and Eva Cordova; and his beloved grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Jose Ramirez and Josephina Ramirez; his brothers, Reymundo Ramirez and Joe Ramirez; and his sisters, Lupe Winn and Maria Sapien.
Tony will be remembered for his warmth, loyalty, and the love he poured into his family and friends. He will be most remembered for his entertaining conversations and humorous antics. His presence, encouragement, and enthusiasm for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
We invite all who knew and loved him to join us in celebrating his life. A viewing and rosary will be held on Monday, January 5 at 6:00 pm at Getz Funeral Home. Mass on Tuesday, January 6 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Tortugas, NM followed by burial at St Josephs Cemetery (St Genevieve’s)
