Anthony Roop Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home - Warrensburg on Feb. 23, 2026.
Anthony Joseph Roop, age 59, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, in Lee's Summit Missouri.
He was born on Friday, September 30, 1966, in Auburn, Indiana, the son of Larry and Teresa (Axtell) Roop.

Tony joined the Air Force after high school in order to see the world and put some questionable teenage boy in a small town shenanigans in the rear view mirror. This proved to be the best decision (beside marrying Christine) that he ever made.

His military career took him to Florida, where he met his first wife and where his daughter Nicole was born. From there he went to England and then North Dakota, where he met Christine. They were married on 29 July 1995. Their sons, Brady and Cody, were both born in North Dakota before the family moved to Missouri in October of 2000.

Tony was fiercely proud of his military career (ironically as Security Forces Law Enforcement) and retired in 2008 after almost 23 years of service. He deployed multiple times and earned a Bronze Star. He continued to mentor young troops in a civilian capacity at Whiteman Air Force Base until his death.

Tony was a lifelong Chicago Bears Fan, although every season he threatened to burn all his memorabilia! He loved 80s hair bands, a good bonfire and any time spent with family. He was a big man with an even bigger heart.

Tony is survived by his wife of 30 years, Christine, his children, Nicole, Brady and Cody (Caroline). His grandchildren Melaina, Davina and Carson. He is also survived by his father, Larry Roop, his mother, Theresa Guinn (Rodney), his sisters Toma and Stacey and brother Troy (Julie) and several nieces and nephews.

Burial with full military honors will occur at a later date.
