Anthony Sergentanis Obituary

Anthony A. Sergentanis
1941 - 2026
Longmeadow
Anthony Aristedis Sergentanis - affectionately known Tony, Uncle Tony or Papou - passed away on January 26, 2026, at the age of 84. He was the beloved husband of 44 years to Teresa M. (Marchese) (Allan) Sergentanis.
Tony was born in Chicopee, MA, a son of Harry A. and Evangelia (Perakis) Sergentanis. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, earning an honorable discharge in 1965. Afterward, he worked many years and retired as Superintendent at Northeast Contractors in Ludlow, where he kept things running smoothly with the love and respect of his team. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church, Longmeadow MA.
Tony adored his family most of all, especially his grandchildren. He loved people - gathering with his classmates, NCI team and his buddies from the Ludlow Country Club where he played golf and was a member of the Lamplighters. Tony had a passion for gardening, tinkering with all kinds of gadgets, and taking photographs. He took great joy in attending sporting events, whether it was his families' games or a big league game. He was always there for his family for every event, big or small.
For 35 years, Tony and Teri opened their home to the entire family and friends, hosting Christmas Eve filled with laughter and food. He was selfless - the guy who showed up whenever someone needed help, tools in hand, ready to fix whatever was broken. 'We are blessed' was something he believed and said often.
In addition to his parents, Tony was predeceased by two brothers, Emmanuel and George Sergentanis, and sister-in-law Mary Sergentanis. Besides his wife, he leaves behind his son Michael and his wife Heather; his twin brother John Sergentanis; two sisters- in- law, Sophie Sergentanis and Irene Sergentanis; five grandchildren - Nicole, Emma, William, Adele, and Theodore; in-laws Rev. Joseph Marchese, Christine Allison (Robert), Anthony Marchese (Monica), Paul Marchese (Carolyn); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him dearly.
Calling hours will take place from 4:00PM-7:00PM, Tuesday February 3, 2026 at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow.
Funeral mass will be offered up at 11AM, Wednesday February 4, 2026 at St. Mary's Church, 519 Longmeadow Street, Longmeadow. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church the morning of the funeral.
Burial with military honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans National Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elms College, 291 Springfield Street, Chicopee, MA 01013, Institutional Giving or to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 22 St. George Road, Springfield, MA 01104. www.forastiere.com

Dearest Teri and family.. Michael and family, my heart was saddened when I heard this news. What a treasure he was. Never have forgotten the nights the four of us spent together, laughing, telling stories. Baptizing my son Andrew, such memories. Even though distance has kept us apart, you both were never forgotten. May Tony be at peace...his memory forever eternal.
