Anthony Sileo, age 92, passed away on May 4, 2025, in CareOne at Evesham, New Jersey. The family held a private service at Bradley Funeral Home on May 7, 2025. He was interred at Colestown Cemetery, Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
Anthony was best known for his love of cooking, He began his career toward becoming an award-winning chef along side his brother James at a restaurant in Cleveland, Ohio.
His career was enhanced by his Army service in Korea, where he served as a cook to his fellow soldiers. Anthony's service to our country occurred from December 11, 1952 thru November 1, 1954. While serving in Korea, he received a diploma from the US Army Cook/Baking School.
After his honorable discharge from the Army, he continued his career by working at resorts, such as Hollywood Beach Hotel in Hollywood, Florida, the Breakers Resort Hotel in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Saranac Inn in Saranac Lake, New York.
In 1970, Anthony, his wife, and their children, settled in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. While there, he became the founding member of the Professional Chefs Association of South Jersey, a chapter of the American Culinary Federation. As a member of the Association, Anthony volunteered his time with Chef/Child, Professional Chefs Week, and Stand Down Day. Anthony's culinary career continued with employment opportunities at Cherry Hill Inn in Cherry Hill, Resorts International Hotel in Atlantic City, and the Rittenhouse Hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
After attending many classes and seminar, demonstrating his knowledge and skills in the culinary profession, the American Culinary Federation awarded him the title of Certified Executive Chef in 1981. In 1985, he was awarded Chef of the Year for the South Jersey Chefs Association chapter.
After more than 40 years in the culinary profession, Anthony retired from Rittenhouse Hotel in 1999.
Anthony was the last surviving child of Thomas and Angeline (nee Ross) Sileo of Dunmore, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Canio, Leonard, Florence, and James.
Anthony is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sandra (nee Kovalsky), his son, Anthony Jr., and his daughter, Cynthia.
