Shackelford Funeral Directors of SelmerAnthony Sims was born on January 20, 1959, in Selmer, Tennessee, to the late James Nolan Sims and Rebecca Lee Gage Sims. He lived his life close to home, close to the land, and surrounded by the people he loved most.
On June 3, 1977, Anthony married Danita Eaker, beginning a life together built on family, hard work, and shared memories. Their marriage was the steady center of his world.
Anthony loved the outdoors and everything that came with it. Whether he was turkey hunting, fishing, working the land, farming, tending cows, or spending time at the river, those were the moments when he felt most like himself. He appreciated honest work, open spaces, and the peace that came from a day spent outside.
He loved kids and especially cherished his grandchildren. Anthony had a gift for storytelling, and his grandkids knew they could always count on him for a good story, a laugh, or time well spent together. Family meant everything to him, and he treasured time with his brother Bub, sharing stories, memories, and the kind of understanding that only brothers have.
Anthony Sims passed away on February 7, 2026, in Stantonville, Tennessee, at the age of 67 years and 18 days. He is survived by his wife, Danita (Eaker) Sims of Stantonville, Tennessee; two daughters, Ashley White and husband Corey of Bethel Springs, Tennessee, and Cassie Matlock and partner Cody Dickey of Selmer, Tennessee; a bonus daughter, Brittiany Parrish and husband Justin of Stantonville, Tennessee; he was the proud grandfather of Connor Matlock, Trace Poole, Luci Mae Poole, and Sailor White, and also cherished his bonus grandchildren, Tynlee Bauer, Kyler Parrish, and Carolyne Parrish, who brought extra joy to his life.
He also leaves behind a sister, Betty Ann Huggins and husband Wendall of Michie, Tennessee; three brothers, Bub Sims and wife Robin of Michie, Tennessee, Don Sims and wife Tammy of Burnsville, Mississippi, and Tim Sims of Middleton, Tennessee; a sister-in-law, Cathy Robinson of Selmer, Tennessee; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who will remember his stories, his steady presence, and his love for family and the outdoors.
In addition to his parents, Anthony was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Peggy McLain, and two brothers-in-law, Bobby Robinson and Kenneth McLain.
Anthony Sims lived a full and meaningful life, shaped by family, hard work, and the outdoors he loved so deeply. His legacy will live on in every story told, every day spent on the land, and in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
