Anthony Frank Szpara

Szpara, Anthony Frank- Age 87, of Swartz Creek, Died Wednesday, April 07, 2004 at Durand Convalescent Center.  Funeral service will be celebrated 11:00AM Saturday, April 10, 2004 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church.  Fr. Amos Wischmeyer officiating.  Burial in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Swartz Creek.  Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes; Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek from 1-4 and 5:30-9PM Thursday and Friday, a vigil service will be held at 6PM Friday.  Those desiring may make contributions to Avalon Hospice, 2360 Stone Bridge Dr., Flint, MI  48532 or Boys Town P.O. Box 7000 Boys Town, NE  68010.  Mr. Szpara was born November 7, 1916 in Flint, the son of Joseph and Angeline (Zambrowski) Szpara.  He resided in Swartz Creek since 1972, coming from Flint.  He married Mary Barbara Durish October 5, 1946 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Flint and she preceded him in death August 30, 1998.  He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp as a Airplane Engine Mechanic.  He retired from GM Fisher Body I, with 40 years of service.  He was also a member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church and enjoyed woodworking.  Surviving are:  son, Dennis Szpara; daughter, Patricia Szpara both of Swartz Creek; sister, Helen Kornas of Flint; brother, Walter and wife Louise Szpara of Lansing.  He was also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Szpara.  Friends may share their online condolences for the family at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
