Anthony L. Edwards of Putney Vt. Passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on July 12, 2025. Born September 27, 1944 in London, England (United Kingdom) Tony was 9 years old when he moved to Rutland VT with Helen and Albert Edwards. Tony went to Rutland High School, graduating in 1963. After graduation he joined the US Coast Guard where he was an Electronic Technician 1963-1967, after his service with the US Coast Guard he enlisted in the Army Reserves, and retired in 2004 Tony married his first wife Joan G Edwards on January 31, 1970. They had three children together. Joseph, Janeen, and Justine. They divorced in March of 1986. Tony had many trade skills including working as a Telephone line repair man. He worked at Bridge Port Metals in Hinsdale NH. Tony found his passion when he became a long haul truck driver for Brattleboro Haulage. Tony retired from Truck Driving in 2012. Tony married his second wife Linda on October 19,1996. Upon retirement Tony enjoyed camping, visiting folks at the Legion, attending his grandchildren's activities, and just going for a drive with Linda with no destination planned. Tony leaves behind his wife Linda Edwards of Putney VT, children Joseph and Lisa Edwards of Vernon VT, Janeen (Edwards) Smith of Charlestown NH, Justine (Edwards) & Robert Steele of Perkinsville VT, step children Jeremiah Parker of Brattleboro VT, Katie Parker of Brattleboro VT and Ariel Parker of Putney VT. Grandchildren Suzanna Edwards, James Edwards, Alexis (Edwards) Sullivan, Tyler & Misty Edwards of Guilford VT, Lindsay (Edwards) Martinez of Winchester NH, Crystal (Smith) & Brenton Barcomb of Acworth NH, Sarah Smith of Walpole NH, Isabelle Smith of Charlestown NH, Persephone Steele and Athena Steele of Perkinsville VT, Rachel Parker of Brattleboro VT and Austin Gorton of Brattleboro VT. Great grandchildren Aliyah Edwards & Xander Edwards of Guilford VT, Caelen Martinez, Kamden Martinez, and Ronan Martinez of Winchester NH, Kenny Barcomb and Octavia of Acworth NH, and Michael Fairbank of Walpole NH. Tony was predeceased by his parents Helen and Albert Edwards and his ex wife Joan G Edwards.
Burial will be at Locust Ridge Cemetery Black Mountain Road Brattleboro VT on Saturday August 2, 2025 at 11:00 AM . A celebration of life to follow at the American Legion 32 Linden Street Brattleboro VT form 12:00PM - 4:30 PM
