Anthony Waldrop Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Scottsboro Funeral Home on Dec. 23, 2024.
Anthony Douglas Waldrop, 81, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on December 20, 2024. Born on December 31, 1942, to Houston and Mrytle Waldrop, Anthony lived his life as a faithful and devoted husband, and a loving dad and granddad. He served his community for years as a board member at Cumberland Mountain Park and as a trustee at Skyline School. He began a career at Revere Copper and Brass where he retired after 35 years.
Anthony was born in Ryan Crossroads in Marshall County and moved to Skyline as a child. At age 17, he joined the US Army's 101st Airborne where he received an Honorable Discharge and returned home to Skyline. He later married the love of his life and soulmate, Doris, whom he spent the next 62 years loving. Anthony's greatest joy and love on earth was his family. He was always proud of the
family that he and Doris created. At age 30, he found the greatest Love. This overwhelming and unfailing Love that left the ninety-nine and pursued him and his life was forever changed when he was introduced to Christ in the back of a bookstore. This newfound Love began a life-long hunger to know Christ more and he spent the rest of his life now pursuing this Love who paid his ransom even though he did nothing to earn or deserve it. Along the way, he shared his faith with many, led many to Christ, and cultivated God's love within so many people. Anthony could have been perceived as quiet and low-key but was bold and had a lot to share in conversation when the topic was pertaining to his faith.
To his kids and grandkids, he was Superman. He maintained a strong yet nurturing presence about him. His family always felt safe and secure through any hardship or crisis. He always had just the right words to say and the right approach for any situation. Just listening to his advice would meltaway any tension, worry, or stress.
Although he will be dearly missed by his family and friends, we celebrate him for the life he lived, for his marriage and family, for his friends, and knowing that after a life-long hunger to know his Savior more, he is now standing in awe in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, Houston and Myrtle Waldrop; his brothers Leon Waldrop, Charles Waldrop, Floyd Waldrop, and John Waldrop; his sisters, Imogene Waldrop and Nellaree Dodson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Doris; his children Lisa (Rickey) Treece, Mark Waldrop, Janice (John) Wilson, Tim Waldrop, and Melinda (Nathan) Berninger; brother Carl (Eulah) Waldrop; sister-in-law Beverly (John) Waldrop; and several nieces and nephews.
He leaves behind twelve grandchildren, Tiffany (Cale) Prince, Brittany (Patrick) Hall, Shaun (April) Treece, Christian Treece, Megan (Austin) Cain, Ryan Treece, Trenton (Sarah) Wilson, Tyler Berninger, Shelby Waldrop, Gabe Waldrop, Brody Berninger, and Brinna Wilson. He also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren, Cason Treece, Cash Treece, Lanham Prince, Kayli Ward, Jediah Hall, Blair Treece, Jader Hall, Judsen Hall, and Ephraim Cain.
The family will receive friends and family during the visitation service at Scottsboro Funeral Home on December 28, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on December 29, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A service to honor Anthony's life will be held at Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel on December 29, 2024, at 2:00 PM with burial taking place at Skyline Cemetery.
