Frances Christine Downs O'Rear went home to be with the Lord on Saturday February 7, 2026. She was known by her loved ones as a loving mom and the best Granny. She was native of Scottsboro, Alabama. She was a member of Rossville Church of Christ for 60+ years. She was a longtime employee of Provident Insurance in Chattanooga, TN. She was known for her sheer joy, pure heart, and devout faith in the Lord. She was loved by so many and touched many more lives with her infectious spirit. Nothing was more important on this earth than her family and the love she had for them.

She was an avid gardener and quilt maker and was a member of the Rossville Senior Citizens Group. She was a fantastic Poet in her own right. She published numerous of her poems in a book which is beloved by her family and friends. She was also an amazing cook, especially fried chicken, chocolate gravy with cathead biscuits, and homemade muffins. She also enjoyed working on puzzles with friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her mother Velma Bryant and father German Bryant, her late husband of 46 years and the love of her life Wendell "Hoss" Downs, and her beloved son David Downs.

She is survived by her husband Joe O'Rear; her loving son Stephen (Cheryl) Downs, Daughter-in-Law Donna Downs; Grandchildren Renee (Chad) Payne, Zachary (Katie) Downs, Danielle Downs, and Jennifer Downs; Great Grandchildren Landon Payne, Turner Downs, Will Downs, CaliAnna Downs, and Addy Payne.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00am Wednesday at Rossville Church Of Christ with Ministers Jack James, Andy Baumberger, and grandson Zachary Downs officiating. Interment in Tennessee- Georgia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 pm Tuesday at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
