James (Jimmy ) Jay went home to be with the Lord March 2, 2026. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Dolores Jay. He was the son of the late Gus and Sally (Childers) Jay, and was born and raised in Ringgold Georgia. Jimmy was a long-time member of Ringgold First Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon for many years, and the Pioneer Sunday School Class and the Joy choir.

Jimmy was retired from Dupont and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading, sports and attending church activities. Jimmy was a 50 year member of Shriners International, Alhambra Temple, Chattanooga, Tennessee and their Clown Unit, the Scottish Rite, and a long standing member of the Quitman Lodge 106 in Ringgold, Georgia.

Survivors include daughter Brenda (Scott) McClanahan of Cleveland, Tennessee, son Tommy (Abby) Jay, of Kennesaw, Georgia, grandchildren Kaitlyn Johnson, Thomas Jay and Taylor Kennedy and eight great grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at 1 PM Friday, March 27 at Ringgold First Baptist Church with Reverend Eric Kennedy and Reverend Bruce Slone officiating. In lieu of flowers donations to the First Baptist Church of Ringgold Building Fund would be appreciated.
