Antigone G. Sotos, 88, of West Lawn, died peacefully on November 13, 2025, in the presence of beloved family. She was predeceased in 2014 by her devoted husband, Lambros G. Sotos, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage. Born December 14, 1936, in Neochori, Greece, she was the daughter of the late Ioannis and Fani (Gikopoulos) Giannatselis.
In 1963, Antigone immigrated to the United States, where she was employed by Letisse, Inc., maker of fine leather handbags, from 1963 to 1986 as a seamstress.
From 1986 until 2002, she was employed as a seamstress by Juliette Originals, Reading, and Narrow Fabrics, West Reading.
Proud of her Greek heritage and traditions, she was a member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Reading, and a former member of St. Matthew's Greek Orthodox Church, Reading.
Nothing brought Antigone more joy than spending time with her children and grandchildren, whom she shamelessly spoiled. A talented baker and cook, she enjoyed preparing and feeding friends and family wonderful home-cooked Greek meals. The grandchildren delighted in Yiayia's impromptu seven course meals on weekends when they visited.
She is survived by three children: George L., companion of Kelly Gahan, Doylestown; Fani L., wife of James Polyak, Wyomissing; and Eleni L., San Rafael, California. There are five grandchildren: Samantha, Evan, Nicholas, Alexia and Ajay. Antigone is also survived by her sister, Diamanto (Rovola), Lithovounia, Greece and her brother, Antonios, Athens, Greece and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Dimitri, and three sisters, Sophia (Georgiopoulos), Katina (Kastrantas), and Georgia.
Services will be on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Sts. Constantine and Helen Church, 1001 East Wyomissing Blvd., Reading, Rev. Father Theodore Petrides, presiding. Interment will follow at Charles Evans Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sts. Constantine and Helen Church at the above address.
