Antoinette Cortese Obituary
Visiting will be held in Paul Ippolito-Dancy Memorial, 9 Smull Ave., Caldwell, NJ on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from 4-8 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held in Notre Dame Church, North Caldwell on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 10 AM. Interment to follow in Gate of Heaven cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.
Mrs. Cortese was born in Newark, NJ and resided in North Caldwell for over 45 years.
She attended Newark State Teacher College before embarking on a long career as a teacher with the Bloomfield School System.
Antoinette is the beloved wife of the late Mario Cortese; loving mother of Christopher Cortese and his wife Dawn, Marc Cortese and his wife Rebecca and Michael Cortese and his wife Melanie; Beloved daughter of the late Marianina (nee Montalto) and Anthony Scardilli; dear sister of Domenica Del Guercio and the late Grace Scardilli and Marie Cappuccio; cherished grandmother of Nicholas, Timothy, Joseph, Sophia, Isabella, Julia, Rosie, Lilly, Andrew, Kathryn and James.

I grew up with Antionette in Newark and she was always a sweet and joyful friend for me. Some people are tattooed on your heart and I can never forget my good times with Antionette and her wonderful family. Rest In Peace and you are in my prayers always. Evelyn xxx

Mrs. Cortese was a very special person and I enjoyed our talks when she was outside watching her grandchildren in Oakland. She will forever be remembered and hold a special place in my heart.
