Antoinette "Toni" Mrkacek, born on October 9, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by her beloved family. A resident of Louisville for many years, Toni’s life was characterized by her unwavering dedication to her family and her community.
A proud graduate of Evergreen Park High School in Evergreen Park, Illinois, class of 1957, Toni utilized her education in nurturing her family throughout her life. She was a caring wife to her husband of 66 years, Richard "Dick" Mrkacek, and a loving mother to their four children: Nanette Mackowiak (Larry), Richard Mrkacek (Patty), Michael Mrkacek, and Michele Crum (Scott). Toni's legacy lives on through her six cherished grandchildren, Marcia, Michele, Nicole, Amy, Rick, and Lindsay, as well as her ten great-grandchildren: Alexis, Madeline, Zachary, Emma, Lilly, Raiden, MJ, Cole, Brooks, and Davis. She is also survived by her sisters, Fidelia "Dee" Myer and Rosemary Eck.
Toni's personality radiated warmth and compassion. She was not only a dedicated mother and grandmother, but she also played an active role in her community. For many years, Toni and Dick were devoted parishioners at Epiphany Catholic Church, where they contributed as members of the choir and served diligently on the welcoming committee, embodying their commitment to service and fellowship.
Memories of Toni will be cherished by her family and friends, who remember her as someone who always placed family first. She was a pillar of strength and love to all who knew her, a legacy that will endure through the lives she touched.
In addition to her surviving family, Toni is preceded in death by her parents, Anthony F. Lettieri, Sr. and Rose Lettieri, and her brother, Anthony F. Lettieri, Jr.
Visitation services will be held on December 29, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Dr, Louisville, KY 40243. A Mass in her honor will take place on December 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Epiphany Catholic Church, situated at 914 Old Harrods Creek Rd, Louisville, KY 40223, followed by a gathering with light refreshments at the church from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. The graveside service will conclude the ceremonies at Floydsburg Cemetery Company, 5600 Old Floydsburg Rd, Crestwood, KY 40014, starting at 1:30 PM.
Toni Mrkacek will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love, spirit, and commitment to family remain an enduring influence on those she has left behind.
