Mrs. Antonetta 'Netta' DeWart, age 91, of Saugus MA, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, February 2, at The Rubin Home in Saugus.
Born on December 3, 1932, and raised in East Boston, Netta was the daughter of the late Frank and Rosaria (Guarini) DeRienzo. After marrying in 1958 to her late husband Bernard A. Dewart, she began a successful career working as a teacher's aide in East Boston for over 25 years. After retiring, Netta spent many years working at the Sears in the Square One Mall, where she would get many visitors from family and friends. She was famous for her home-made sweet raviolis, as well as her chocolate chip cookies packaged in zip lock bags handy to pass out to anyone she knew. Netta adored her family and never missed an opportunity to spoil her grandkids. She enjoyed shopping trips, watching law and order, going out to eat, arts and crafts, and spending time with her family and friends. Most of all, she was best known for her caring heart, sassy personality, and her overall fun and loving temperament.
Holding many titles, such as loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend, sister, aunt, and great-grandmother, Netta is survived by her daughter Donna King and her husband Dan of Lynn; her son Bernie DeWart and his wife Anna of Lynn; five grandchildren, Janelle, Lauren, Courtney, Nicole, and Andrew, and four great grandchildren, Jaxson, Eli, Gage and Silas. She is also survived by her brother Victor DeRienzo of Florida and sister Lucy DeWart of Saugus. Antonetta was predeceased by her late husband Bernard A. DeWart, siblings Lena Zagarella, Olga Martinec, Elizabeth Cataldo, Anna Redmond, Angelo, Vincent, Richard, Anthony, and Raymond DeRienzo. She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
