Antonio Chichi, 93
San Diego, CA
Antonio Chichi, 93, of San Diego, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025. Beloved husband of the late Pietra (nee Ilardo). Devoted father of Rosa (Antonio) Rosselli and Santo (Vicky) Chichi. Proud Nonno of Alex (Janel) Rosselli, Tina (Andres) Solis, Daniela Rosselli, Anthony, Nick, and Maegan Chichi. Adored great grandfather of Malia, Mateo Rosselli, and Elio, Lorenzo Solis. Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews. Warm-hearted friend to many near and far. His legacy of love, warmth, and tradition will live on through them.
Born in Sicily, Italy in the small town of Gratteri. He is one of four siblings, Giacamo, Giuseppe and Rosa born to Santo and Rosa Chichi. It is here that he met and married the love of his life, his wife, Pietra. He immigrated to the United Stated in 1968 and settled in Blue Island, Illinois. In this small town on the outskirts of Chicago is where his family spent many years while he worked for the railroad. Upon retirement, he and his wife left the Windy City to make San Diego home with the benefit of being close to their daughter and her family.
As Antonio became acclimated to the San Diego weather, he continued to hone is unique talents in gardening, making homemade wine and sausage, amongst other things. He was a man who was always active doing something constructive or challenging himself in completing word search puzzles. Faith and family were his number one priority.
He was a simple man who had joy and deep love for family and friends. Antonio was known for his generosity, sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear. He found activities that brought him closer to his heritage and shared them with friends who also became family. His home was always full of family, friends, laughter, stories, wonderful food, and, of course, his homemade wine.
A memorial service will be held on February 7th at East County Mortuary, where family and friends will gather to celebrate his life and the many ways he touched the hearts of all who knew him.
