Antonio Petta

It is with profound sadness that the family of Antonio Petta, 87, announce the peaceful passing of their cherished husband, father and Poppy who departed this life surrounded by the love of his family on Sunday, June 15, 2025 at River Glen Health Care Center in Southbury. He was the beloved husband of Antonietta (Guerrera) Petta.
Born in Castelmauro, Campobasso, Italy, on October 21, 1937, Antonio was the son of the late Lorenzo and Benedetta (Trolio) Petta. Antonio grew up with strong values rooted in faith, family and hard work. In 1955 Antonio boarded a ship to America with dreams and a promise to build a better life for himself and his family. In 1961 he co-founded the concrete construction company, Waterbury Foundation Co. Inc. He spent decades working, pouring and erecting buildings of all sizes and magnitude until his retirement in 1989.
Antonio was a member of the Pontelandolfo Community Club. He held his Italian customs close to his heart. He enjoyed making homemade wine and sausage with his grandchildren and telling them stories about the "Old Country". Many of the Italian traditions he taught his family will be carried on for decades to come. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His strength, generosity and enduring love for his family will remain in their hearts forever. "Riposa in peace, Poppy".
In addition to his beloved wife, Antonietta of 65 years, Antonio leaves behind cherished memories with his son, Anthony Petta and his wife, Theresa, of Watertown; four grandchildren, Michael Petta and his wife Michelle of Farmington, Alyssa Petta and her fiancé', Aden Mead, of Melbourne, Australia, Andrew P. Morrone and his partner, Vanessa Slebonick, of Waterbury, and Adriana "Bella" McKeown and her husband Sean of Berlin, CT; two beloved great-granddaughters, Emilia and Julia Petta; a brother, Giulio Petta and his wife Ginette of Ocala, FL, three sisters-in-law, Maria Petta of Watertown, Mary Lou Petta of Waterbury and Antonietta Guerrera of Montreal, Canada, along with numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Antonio was predeceased by his daughter, Nina Petta and his brothers, Pat, Nicola, Alex and John Petta, and his sisters, Josephine Clissa and Giulia Petta.
Arrangements: Funeral will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2025, 9:00 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Mausoleum in Watertown. A calling hour will be held for Antonio on Wednesday morning from, 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The members of the Pontelandolfo Community Club will meet at the funeral home Wednesday morning at 8:45 a.m.
