Antonio J. Rodrigues, 66, of Acushnet, passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer at Charlton Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. Born in Portugal, he was the son of the late Manuel Rodrigues Amaral and the late Alda (Jesus) Amaral. 

Antonio was the loving and devoted husband of Elizabeth (Fernandes) Rodrigues for over 40 years. He was a construction laborer at Costa Brothers and recently found a passion for pickleball, playing often with the Fairhaven Pickleball Association. 

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Fernandes) Rodrigues of Acushnet and their son David Rodrigues of Martha's Vineyard. Antonio also leaves behind his brothers, Jose Amaral, Armindo Amaral and another distant brother; his sisters, Maria Amaral, Celina Amaral, Ester Amaral, Graca Amaral and another distant sister. He will also be missed by a special brother-in-law Dino Defreitas.

Antonio was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Rodrigues Amaral and Alda (Jesus) Amaral and by his brother Manuel Amaral. 

In accordance with Antonio's wishes he has been cremated and a memorial service with his cremated remains present will take place on Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Boulevard Funeral Home, 223 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford, MA 02746.
