Ardella Thornburg Obituary

Ardella E. "Dolly" (Spiese) Thornburg, 101, formerly of Mt. Penn, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at the Heritage of Green Hills, She was the wife of the late Leroy C. "Mike" Thornburg, Born in Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late William C. and Chrissie E. (Kline) Spiese. Dolly graduated from Reading High School, class of 1942. She was a 25 year member of the "Sweet Adalines - Reading Chapter Women's Barbershop Chorus." Dolly was an assembler for AT&T in Reading for 25 years, retiring in 1984.


Dolly is survived by her son, Larry L. Thornburg, her four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen P. (Thornburg) Shuker.


A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 beginning at 1:00 pm at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 390 W Neversink Road, Reading, PA 19606. Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Society, https://www.heart.org. Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., has been entrusted with arrangements.
