Ardith “Sweedy “Carlson, born May 18, 1959, to Isaac and Florence Greensky, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. She grew up in Sawyer, MN where she spent a lively childhood before graduating from Carlton High School.
On September 18, 1977, Sweedy married her “old goat” Carl Carlson – a partnership filed with humor, grit and deep devotion. In her early years she worked caring for elders in nursing homes, a role that reflected her fierce loyalty and her enormous heart.
Sweedy loved being with family above all else. She cherished her trips to the casino, enjoyed playing bingo, and could be found visiting with fellow players. She was known for “raising hell” with the ones she loved most-her special way of showing affection. She was loved by many – and feared by even more (just kidding – mostly).
She is preceded in death by her husband Carl, her parents; brothers Geepush and Chuck “Black Boy” Greensky; sisters Habe and Jug; and her nephew Gazoo.
She is survived by her three sones whom she loved beyond measure; Brandon (Keisha) Carson, Cory (Alisha) Carlson and Thomas Carlson.; her grandchildren Luke, Brooke, Shawn, Lennon, Zaylee, Peyton, and Paisley; her close lifelong friends, Darlene Sandman, Kelly Borden, Marlene Deschampe and Thomas “Tuli" Mattila, she leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews whom she cared for as if they were own.
Sweedy will be remembered for her unmatched spirit, her humor her loyalty and the fierce love she carried for her family and friends. Her presence will deeply missed and forever cherished.
