Funeral Service for Mr. Argus Levi Brasell, 94, of
Alexander City, Alabama, will be Sunday, March 15, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Dr. Steve King will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park with veteran honors provided by the Alexander City Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 15, 2026 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Argus Levi Brasell, known affectionately as Argus to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, in
Alexander City, Alabama. Born on April 6, 1931, in the tight-knit Eagle Creek Community, Argus's life was a testament to his faith, generosity, and spirited nature.
After graduating from the Alabama Polytechnic Institute, now known as Auburn University, Argus embarked on a fulfilling career as an Insurance Agent with Liberty National Life Insurance Company. His dedication and hard work were evident throughout his 33 years of service. After retiring from Liberty National, Argus also found joy in working part-time at Bice Motors, where he was involved in selling vehicles and assisting with transports. His love for this role was clear to all who knew him.
Argus was an avid fan of Auburn University, embodying the spirit of "War Eagle" in all aspects of his life. His passion for golf was matched only by his love for his immaculately kept yard and his woodworking shop. There, he crafted beautiful cross clocks and birdhouses, which are cherished by many. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in the Korean Conflict.
A true pillar of the community, Argus's involvement with the Alexander City Kiwanis Club and Habitat for Humanity showcased his commitment to service and his ability to touch the lives of others. As a people person who never met a stranger, his presence was a source of joy and comfort to many.
His deep faith was evident in his long-standing membership at First Baptist Church. As a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and in many other roles, he served with a heart full of love for the Lord. His recent recognition as Deacon Emeritus was a fitting tribute to the impact he had on his church family.
Argus's caregivers, Joann Thomas and Brianna Grant, provided him with exceptional love and support. The family extends heartfelt gratitude for their unwavering dedication and care.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Barbara Veazey Brasell; daughter, Stephanie B. (Chad) Farris; son, Jason Stuart Brasell; grandchildren, Hannah Reed (Evan) Coulter and Holly Reed; and sister, Jennifer Roberson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Grace Adair Brassell; brother, Gerald A. Brasell; and sister, Joyce B. Westbrook.
Argus Levi Brasell will always be remembered as a faith-filled and generous man, whose spirited personality brought light and warmth to everyone around him. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He has left an indelible mark on this world, and his memory will be cherished forever.
