Burial will follow in the Dadeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Langley Funeral Home.

Ricky passed away peacefully surrounded by his 3 children on March 10, 2026, in Birmingham, Alabama. Born on October 22, 1957, in Alexander City, Alabama, Ricky's life was marked by a profound sense of community, a love for the outdoors, and a deep, abiding faith for the Lord.

Ricky was the definition of a hardworker. He grew up working in the woods with his daddy in the logging business before venturing out on his own logging business. In days gone by you might have passed him on the highway in his big red truck and then later pass him cutting grass in someone's yard. Both his mama and daddy taught him the value of a good, hard work ethic.

Ricky's early years were filled with the kind of adventures that would shape his character for a lifetime. He was known for his strength and skill in the ring as an amateur boxer, where he earned the title of lightweight boxing champion. Ricky was inspired by Sugar Ray Leonard, who always showed his skill and heart in the ring. This same determination and discipline carried over into his professional life. He spent over 50 years as a logger and then as a logging truck driver, hauling logs and wood chips with a dedication that earned him respect among his peers.

Ricky's love for nature extended to his affection for animals, particularly his beloved rottweilers. He was skilled in training them, and his dog Nike was a constant, joyful companion. His interest in sports cars was another facet of his adventurous spirit, with a Nova and a Camaro once gracing his driveway, symbols of his love for speed and the open road. He also loved, spending time in his garden, QVC, cooking, cracklin' cornbread, and fishing with his best friend.

Ricky was renowned for his famous boiled peanuts, a secret recipe he delighted in making but never shared. He always welcomed anyone to challenge his recipe against theirs. Friends and family would often gather to enjoy this special treat, knowing it was made with love.

Above all, Ricky cherished his family. He was the absolute best at being Daddy and Bam Bam to his children and grandchildren. The time spent with his loved ones was very precious to him. His selfless, loving, and friendly nature made him a pillar in his community, someone who was always willing to lend a hand or offer words of encouragement.

Ricky's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and attended Calvary Baptist Church. He loved to talk about Jesus and never missed an opportunity to share his love of Christ with others. His faith was infectious, and he inspired many with his unwavering commitment to his beliefs. One of the last things he said to his children was "Stay in Boat," meaning to always put God first and in the center of your life.

Ricky is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Huff (Trent) Calhoun; sons, Joshua Chase (Haley) Huff and Coby Matt (Ashley) Huff; grandchildren, Lila Calhoun, Garrett Huff, and Lawson Huff; sisters, Sherry Bartlett, Duchi (James) Jones, and Robin (Tim) Ashworth, brothers, Reid (Christy) McKelvey and Rush (Lisa) McKelvey; step-mom, Gayle Huff; significant other, Liz Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Cleveland Huff; mother, Dorothy Mae Pritchard McKelvey; step-dad; Joe McKelvey and brother, Gene Huff.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 ST. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in his honor.

Ricky Huff lived a life full of purpose, passion, and love. His legacy is one of hard work, devotion to family and faith, and a generosity of spirit that touched all who knew him. As we remember Ricky, we are reminded of the impact one life can have on so many. He will be greatly missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him. Ricky's journey through life was a testament to the values he held dear, and his memory will be cherished forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
