Aristobulo Oviedo, 79, of Mineola, NY, passed away on January 5th, 2025 in peace.
Aristobulo was born on April 29th, 1945 in Dovio Valle, Valle del Cauca, Colombia the son of Carmen Sofia Oviedo of Sanchez and Aristobulo Oviedo, Sr.
Aristobulo was briefly a member of the military police in Colombia in the 1960s. Aristobulo also graduated from Queens Community College in the 1970s.
Aristobulo was married to Dioselina Rodriguez on December 6th, 1969 at Iglesia Pentecostal Unida in Cali, Valle del Cauca, Colombia, by Manuel Ospina. Though they both agreed that there were many reasons why their 10 years of marriage may not have been their best idea, one reason was definitely not the 4 incredible children they had together: Janet, Abner, Saul, and Sandra.
Aristobulo was the quintessential hard worker and worked in numerous jobs including as a commercial laundromat attendant for his first job in the US, a doorman on 62nd St, and an NYC taxi driver. It remains a mystery how he managed to work a 12 hour shift as a doorman and attend classes immediately after at the local community college, all while being a father. He worked as a taxi driver for over 30 years where his infamous love for the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission began.
Aristobulo enjoyed many, many things. Among those things were fishing, shooting pool, long, long walks, country music (especially John Denver and Kenny Rogers), driving, his coffee light & sweet, pastrami, the outdoors (particularly his beloved Yellowstone National Park), a good deal as much as anyone, IHOP, talking, swimming with a V-neck t-shirt on, bowling, tinkering, travelling, being a local celebrity at Thomas's Ham & Eggery Diner, singing "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" for unsuspecting telemarketers, telling people different ways he lost his thumb, making piles of leaves for his grandkids to jump in, and, above all else, being with his family. Aristobulo was an Oviedo through and through and, whether you wanted to or not, he made sure you knew how he felt about everything, particularly his family.
Aristobulo's legacy lives on in his children, Janet, Abner, Saul, Sandra; grandchildren, Joslynne, Nicholas, Andaria, Aidan, Rylan, Ella, Olivia, Ari, Bryce, Kaylen, Lilah, Brayden, Kaleb, Kiarra; great-grandchildren, Spencer; brothers, Daniel, Arit, Edgar, Juan Carlos, Aristóbulo; and sisters, Lilian, Nancy, Nerieth, Carmen, Sofia, Isaura, Mirian, and Verónica.
Preceding Aristobulo in death are parents, Carmen Sofia Oviedo of Sanchez and Aristobulo Oviedo, Sr.; brother, Fredy; and sister, Mery.
Visitation and memorial services will be held Wednesday, January 8th and Thursday, January 9th from 4-8pm at Hartnett Funeral Home at 561 Jerusalem Ave, Uniondale, NY 11553.

Love you always gramps- miss you like crazy every single day- a piece of me died with you January 5th. And that little girl in me who could always count on you cries every night with you in her dreams. You often offer a hug. I always take it.

Gramps- this is agony. You are my hero. I will never forget your charisma and charm, or the way you always took care of me no matter what. Even before we met, you were praying for me. For twin B to get enough food because Ry would steal it all. You've always looked out for me and always had my back. I will never again experience the love you had for me. Our bond is unbreakable and I know you continue to have my back. No force on Earth could tear us apart. We face a distance now but even so, my mind and heart are always very near to you. One day we will meet again, and I will hug you tight, and I will never ever let you go ever again.

You have all my love gramps. Always and in all ways,
Ella
