Funeral Services for Arlene M. Francis, age 103, of Neligh, Nebraska will be Friday, November 22, 2024 at 10:30 am. at Neligh Faith Community Church in Neligh. Visitation will be Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Neligh. Arlene passed away November 15, 2024 at Arbor Care Center in Neligh. Arlene Fichter Van Patter Francis was born near Meadow Grove, NE on October 11, 1921 to Ray and Phyllis Collins Fichter. She was baptized and confirmed in the Neligh Methodist Church. She graduated from Neligh High School in 1939. She married Harold VanPatter on July 19, 1941. They were the parents of two daughters, Jeanne Werkmeister and Caryl Storm. She worked on the farm north of Neligh with her husband until October 28, 1964 when Harold died in a car accident. She then moved to Neligh where she worked for Dr. Murphy and Dr. Jensen in their dental offices. Worked for Farm Bureau until she retired. On October 27, 1967 she married Ray Francis. They lived in Neligh and had 24 years of good life together. Ray died on May 26, 1991. She later moved to Pioneer Homes and to The Willows Assisted Living in 2015. She passed away on November 15, 2024 at Arbor Care Center in Neligh.
Survivors include daughters, Jeanne Werkmeister and Caryl (Ron) Storm, Jule Jackson, son, Dennis (Janet) Francis, daughter in law Connie Francis, son-in-law Sam White, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Harold and Ray, sister Wanda Reiss, son-in-law Larry Werkmeister, grandson Tim Storm, sisters-in-law Naomi Marrs and Jolene Van Patter, brothers-in-law Duane VanPatter and Bud Mars, stepsons Don and Dick Francis, stepdaughter Diane White and step son-in-law Jim Jackson.
