Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cornwell Funeral Home - Dardanelle on Oct. 27, 2025.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Arlene Tucker George, age 72, in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 25, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose warmth, humor, and kindness touched the lives of many.
She was one of the original "Valley Girls," growing up in Harkey's Valley together with her sisters and lifelong friends Bonnie and Patty Christy. They spent their childhood riding bicycles all over the Valley - leaving in the morning and coming home late in the afternoon after making a day of it. No one thought to question whether it was safe or normal; it was simply how children grew up then. They had picnics, explored the woods, and rode as far as Slo Fork Grocery to buy a Coke and ice cream for five cents.
Arlene was spirited and persuasive from an early age. She once convinced Beth to jump from the barn loft - and when Beth hesitated, Arlene simply "assisted" her off the edge. It could be dangerous to cross her: once, in retaliation for some offense by Diann, she tied Diann's favorite teddy bear to a rope and dragged it behind her bicycle through every mud puddle she could find. These stories became family legends and captured her wit, her will, and her larger-than-life presence.
Raised on a dairy and poultry farm, Arlene learned early the value of hard work - and also how to find joy in the doing of it. She graduated from Dardanelle High School with the Class of 1971. Arlene was a devoted mother who poured her love and energy into raising her boys: Christopher, Curtis, and Travis.
Arlene met the love of her life, Jasper George - a bass player in a local country-western band - and it was love at first sight for them both. They married in the Danville United Methodist Church on December 7, 1996, and later renewed their vows in celebration of their 25th wedding anniversary in 2021. Arlene knew what it was like to have someone literally worship the ground you walk on.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Arley and Flossie Tucker; by her firstborn son, Christopher Talley; her second-born son, Curtis Talley; her brother, Jim Garner, her stepson, Jay George, and her great nephew, Alex James.
She is survived by her devoted husband and soulmate, Jasper, who showered her with love and gave her the very best care; by her precious son Travis Talley and his wife, Donya, and her two treasured grandsons, Aiden Talley and Kade Talley; by her stepdaughter Jasmin McBride and her husband Justin and their children Josylin, Jaycee, and Hazel; by her stepson Jordan George and his wife Beth and their children Amorette Cosmos-George, Isaiah Cosmos and Ivan Cosmos; by her sisters Beth (Steve) Coger of Fayetteville and Diann (Mike) Graves of Delaware, Arkansas; by her sisters-in-law Betty (Dennis) Woody of Fort Myers, Florida, Bonnie Dennis (Dave) of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, and brother-in-law Nathan (Phyllis) George of Ola, Arkansas; her lifelong friends, Jana Merritt and Rae Ann Jones, and by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Her loyal fur baby, Tucker, who brought her constant joy, is also missing her deeply and wanting his mom.
Arlene cherished her grandchildren, her family, her friends, and her sweet Tucker. She loved the holidays more than anyone - beginning her Christmas shopping and her Christmas Day countdown every August. Christmas Eve dinner will never be the same and I don't even know if we will be able to do them without her. She was the glue that kept us together. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and generosity.
