Arlene R. Monaghan

Arlene R. Monaghan, 85, of Ridgewood, passed away on December 25, 2025. Beloved wife of 65 years to Peter J. Monaghan. Loving mother of daughter Denise Rizzo and her husband, the late Tony Rizzo, son Peter J. Monaghan, Jr., and daughter Janice Petix. Devoted grandmother of Adam Rizzo and his wife Brianna, Alexis Rizzo-Gilchrist and her husband James, Ryan Monaghan and his wife Haylie, Thomas Monaghan and his husband Jeremy, and Ethan Petix. Cherished great-grandmother of Miller Monaghan and Holly Rizzo. Dear sister-in-law of Robert Monaghan and his wife, the late Josephine, and Eugene Monaghan and his wife Marylee.

Arlene was born in New York City and raised in Woodside, Queens, where she met her husband. They moved to Bergenfield where they raised their children and then settled in Ridgewood 30 years ago. She was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church in Ridgewood.

Arlene was an Administrative Assistant at AIG Insurance in Manhattan, retiring in 2002. She loved to travel – especially cruising. She and her husband were able to enjoy 27 cruises together, as well as traveling to many other destinations. However, Arlene most loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 29 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Feeney Funeral Home, Ridgewood. Funeral Mass Tuesday, December 30 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church, Ridgewood. Interment to follow at Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Arlene's name to The National Shrine of St. Jude’s (St. Jude’s League, 205 W. Monroe St. Chicago, IL 60606) would be greatly appreciated.
