Obituary published on Legacy.com by Strunk Funeral Homes and Crematory - Vero Beach on Jan. 8, 2026.
She was as lovely as the flowers she enthusiastically grew in her garden. She adored her family, friends and her beloved Washington Redskins. She was playful on the golf course and in the bowling alley, often sneaking up on her opponent with a perfect shot or throw. She loved playing cards and she could pull off a poker face, something she learned as a model back in the day.
Arlene K. Pool of Vero Beach, Fla., died peacefully in her sleep on January 7, 2026, leaving her family and friends to mourn her bright existence as she divided her time between
Vero Beach, Fl and
Great Falls, Va.
A graduate of Marshall University, she was a sister in the Sigma Kappa Sorority and was great at passing her "sisterhood knowledge" to her daughter Missy and beloved granddaughter Haley. Arlene was born on September 27, 1941, in Huntington, W.Va., to Anthony George and Frances Marie Krauch. She worked as an elementary school teacher and as a model in her early years.
Arlene's biggest achievement was being a mother, homemaker and grandmother. She was their biggest cheerleader and encouraged them in whatever they wanted to do. Her generosity and love were unconditional. She thrived being surrounded by her family.
Not only could Arlene play golf, but she also sang a mean karaoke tune - of course with her fabulous sense of style and the perfect handbag! She loved traveling the world with her family and friends, always leaving them yearning for the next trip.
Arlene Pool was a generous woman and had several organizations she supported including Head, Heart and Hands of Vero Beach, Fla, Life with Cancer in Va., the American Heart Association, and the River Bend Women's Golf Association in
Great Falls, Va.
Arlene is preceded in death by her parents Anthony George (1980) and Frances Marie (2014), and one sister Carolyn Krauch Braudaway (2017).
She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years Otis R. Pool, her son, Christopher B. Pool (Alleyne) of Charlotte, N.C., granddaughter, Haley Pool of New York, N.Y., daughter Melissa A. Pool of New York, N.Y., son, Jason P. Pool (Casey) of Dunn Loring, Va., brother-in-law Jessie Braudaway of Springfield, Va., and niece Jenny Braudaway. She also had many other nieces and nephews around the country.
