Arlene F. Rayhorn, 84, of Orangeville, IL, formerly of Northport, AL,
passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at SSM Health Monroe
Hospital, with her family by her side. Arlene was born on April 9,
1938, in Buckeye Township to Kenneth and Mary (Barker) Gross. She
married Virgil Rayhorn on May 19th, 1957 in Orangeville, IL. Desiring
to always be close to their children, they sold their Freeport home and
moved to New York, Florida, Alabama, and Arlene recently relocated
to Orangeville to be with her son Terry.
In 1960 Arlene dedicated her life by water baptism becoming one of
Jehovah's Witnesses and was a loyal active member all of her life.
Although being blind, Arlene had a sharp mind and outstanding
memory – memorizing hundreds of scriptures to aid in teaching the
Bible to others. Arlene read Braille, loved to water ski and enjoyed
playing cards, especially Euchre, with her family and friends.
Arlene is survived by her son Terry (Rhonda) Rayhorn of Orangeville,
IL, daughter-in-law Amy Rayhorn of Northport, AL, and five
grandchildren - Katrina, Ethan (Olivia), Emma (Justin), Finnlay and
Ferran.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Virgil, son
Tony, two brothers Kenny and Roger, and one sister Marilyn.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 2 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
1000 Longhorn Ct. Freeport, IL 61032
